Françoise Coriat

Educated in Paris and London. Studied History of Art and Literature at the Sorbonne University. Trained in drawing, painting and sculpture. In Israel since 1967 and in Jerusalem since 1969.

Started her artistic career as a ceramicist. Switched to theatre in 1977.

Since then, has been designing and realizing costumes, sets, props (especially string marionettes, masks, hats and costume jewelry), as well as make-up for numerous productions. A specialist in ancient styles of fashion, has been working and teaching mostly in Jerusalem (Khan theatre, Hebrew University, Nissan Nativ drama studio, Rubin Academy), "Oranim" University in the Galil, Tel-Aviv University and various high schools and cultural organizations all over Israel. Has been collaborating with a number of well-known directors.

RECENT CREATIONS

"The orange is the 8th species" 
also called "Paradise is an orange grove"

Created for the Rehovot Orange Festival
(Summer 2007)

Surrounding the orange is a landscape of Eretz Israel with olive, pomegranate, date and fig trees, grape vines, wheat and barley in a natural "succah" where Adam and Eve's wedding takes place in the Garden of Eden
